For Parents

First Steps Child Care Centre supports parents & guardians involvement

We provide various resources to help parents and guardians stay informed and engaged in their child’s development, ensuring a seamless and positive experience. We celebrate the unique developmental journey of every child, ensuring they feel a deep sense of belonging among their peers, caregivers, and the world around them. Through play-based learning, our programs spark imagination and create meaningful opportunities for social interaction within a supportive and enriching setting.

At First Steps Child Care Centre, we believe in supporting parents every step of the way.

Our dedicated staff offers clear and open communication, keeping you informed about your child’s daily activities and progress through regular updates and conversations. Through the Brightwheel app, parents and guardians receive real-time updates, photos, and messages throughout the day, keeping them connected to their child’s activities.

Our centre is licensed by the Ministry of Education and with their help we have surpassed all requirements regarding our buildings, the equipment, staff and overall childcare program.

Parent Handbook – Policies, Procedures & Program Details

In addition, our parent handbook outlines all important policies, procedures, and program details. At First Steps Child Care Centre, we have created positive and responsive interactions by fostering respect among the children, parents, guardians, childcare providers, staff and volunteers.

This mutual respect forms the foundation for effective communication and strengthens relationships, creating a supportive network for everyone involved. Our commitment is to build a collaborative environment where every parent or guardian feels valued and connected to their child’s care and development.

Registration Information

While we do not charge a registration fee, it is important to complete and return the Enrollment Package within 48 hours of acceptance to secure your child’s place in the childcare program. This step is crucial to finalize your enrollment and avoid any potential delays.

Missed Days or Cancellations

We require a two-week notice for the termination of care to prevent additional charges. This notice period allows us to manage staffing and other logistics effectively. Additionally, since we do not offer provisions for sick days, it’s necessary to provide a two-week notice for any scheduled time off to avoid charges for regular days your child is not present.

Payments for childcare are required in advance, and can be made either weekly, biweekly, or monthly. For your convenience, payments can be processed in the office via debit, Visa, or Mastercard, or through e-transfer. This policy helps us manage our financial planning and maintain a consistent service level for all families.
