Programs Offered at First Steps Child Care Centre

Our classrooms and playgrounds are carefully designed to promote children’s physical, social, emotional, and educational development through exploration and play. We emphasize child-initiated activities, guided by supportive adults, to nurture independence, creativity, responsibility, and self-regulation. Our inclusive environment helps children build self-worth and a strong sense of belonging. Indoors and outdoors, we provide a safe space where every child can express their individuality, encouraging daily growth, learning, and discovery.

At each First Steps Child Care Centre location, we offer four specialized programs to cater to different developmental stages:

Infant Program

For our youngest learners, we provide a nurturing environment designed to support early developmental stages. Our focus is on creating a safe and comforting space where infants can explore sensory experiences, build motor skills, and begin to develop early social interactions.

Toddler Program

As children grow, our Toddler Program offers opportunities for increased independence and exploration. We provide engaging activities that promote language development, fine and gross motor skills, and socialization with peers. Our approach supports toddlers in becoming more confident and curious learners.

Preschool Program

In the Preschool Program, we focus on preparing children for their transition to formal schooling. Our curriculum is designed to enhance cognitive skills, early literacy and numeracy, and social-emotional development. We encourage creativity and problem-solving through interactive play and structured activities.

School-Age (Kindergarten) Program

For older children, our School-Age (Kindergarten) Program provides a supportive environment that reinforces school readiness and academic skills. We offer a balance of educational and recreational activities to help children develop critical thinking, self-regulation, and social skills, preparing them for a successful transition into elementary school.

First Steps Child Care Centre – Locations & Fees

We operate three childcare centre locations serving Essex, Tecumseh, and Lakeshore, offering daily care for children aged 2 months to 12 years (with up-to-date vaccinations), ensuring each child receives exceptional care and personalized attention.

Information for Parents and Guardians

Parents are encouraged to review our parent handbook for complete information on policies and procedures at all First Steps Child Care Centre locations. All of our centres are fully nut-free, and we provide a rotating four-week menu with healthy meals and snacks, ensuring a wide variety of nutritious options for your child.
